About the Role

We are looking for experienced Data Center Technicians in Zurich, Switzerland to support on-site data center operations, including hardware installation, rack-and-stack, structured cabling, troubleshooting, and decommissioning.

This is a freelance, hourly, dispatch-based opportunity for technicians who can work independently on-site and support projects based on client demand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform server and network hardware installations, decommissioning, and migrations

  • Execute structured copper and fiber-optic cabling, including cable routing, patching, and labeling

  • Perform rack-and-stack activities, including mounting servers, switches, and other equipment

  • Handle cross-connects, patch panels, and cable management

  • Troubleshoot physical hardware, power, cabling, and connectivity issues

  • Replace faulty hardware components and assist with equipment testing

  • Follow site procedures, work orders, and approved methods of procedure (MOPs)

  • Document completed work with photos, asset details, and technical notes

  • Coordinate with remote NOC teams, project managers, and client representatives

Job requirements

2+ years of data center or IT infrastructure experience.

Hands-on experience in data center operations, including rack-and-stack, server installation, decommissioning, and structured cabling.

Strong cabling skills, including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, single-mode and multimode fiber.

Familiarity with server hardware (Dell, HP, Supermicro), networking equipment, and physical troubleshooting.

Experience with fiber optics, SFP/QSFP transceivers, or cross-connects is an advantage.

Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in raised-floor environments.

Ability to work independently, follow technical instructions, and comply with site safety procedures.

Own transportation and ability to work on-site in Zurich and nearby locations as required.

Availability for occasional night, weekend, and short-notice assignments.

Professional communication skills in English.

Legally authorized to work in Switzerland without employer sponsorship.

Familiarity with DCIM platforms, ticketing systems, and major colocation providers is preferred.

Data center certifications (CDCP, CDCS, or similar) and networking certifications (CCNA, CompTIA Network+) are preferred.

Own basic tools, such as screwdrivers, cable testers, label makers, and fiber inspection equipment, as required for assignments.
