About the Role

Join Reboot Monkey as a Data Center Technician in Dublin, Ireland. This is an onsite, independent contractor position supporting critical infrastructure at data center facilities.

Technicians will support assignments in or near area, based on client requirements and available dispatches. This opportunity is intended for freelancers who are comfortable working independently and accepting assignments based on client demand.

Compensation

Hourly contract rate – based on experience and assignment requirements

  • Technicians are paid for the actual hours worked on each assignment.

  • There is no guaranteed 8-hour workday, minimum weekly hours, or fixed number of hours per week.

  • The hourly rate, payment currency, invoicing schedule, and other assignment-specific terms will be confirmed during recruitment and documented in the applicable contract or Statement of Work (SOW).

  • Any applicable travel allowance or additional assignment compensation will be confirmed separately.

Work Setup

  • Independent contractor/freelance arrangement, not traditional full-time employment.

  • On-demand, dispatch-based assignments.

  • Flexible scheduling depending on client requirements and available work.

  • Some assignments may require only a few hours, while others may require a full day or longer.

  • Assignments may occur during regular hours, nights, weekends, or on short notice.

  • Technicians should be comfortable working independently onsite with minimal supervision.

  • Work is generally within or near the technician's local area.

  • Assignment availability and workload depend on client demand.

  • Each assignment may have specific requirements, rates, and terms confirmed through a separate SOW or assignment confirmation.

Please note: This is not a traditional full-time position. There are no guaranteed weekly hours, and assignments and schedules vary based on client demand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, rack, stack, and decommission server and network equipment.

  • Perform structured cabling, including copper and fiber-optic connections.

  • Replace hardware components and perform basic physical troubleshooting.

  • Assist with equipment deployments, migrations, and upgrades.

  • Troubleshoot physical connectivity, cabling, and hardware issues.

  • Maintain accurate documentation, asset records, and ticket updates.

  • Follow site procedures, technical instructions, and safety requirements.

  • Coordinate with project managers, remote teams, and data center personnel.

  • Complete assigned tasks independently and escalate issues when necessary.

Additional Responsibilities for Technicians with Advanced Technical Experience (Tier 3)

Depending on experience and assignment requirements, technicians may also handle:

  • Advanced Cisco or Juniper routing and switching configuration.

  • VLANs, routing protocols, ACLs, and network security.

  • Complex network and server troubleshooting, including root cause analysis.

  • Data center migrations, infrastructure upgrades, and network reconfiguration.

  • Automation, scripting, and advanced server/network configuration.

  • Troubleshooting complex connectivity issues across multiple devices and systems.

Work Authorization

  • Candidates must already have the legal right to work in country of assignment.

  • This is an independent contractor engagement, not a W-2 or traditional employee position.

  • Reboot Monkey does not provide visa or work-permit sponsorship for these contract assignments.

  • Candidates must be able to undertake the work legally under their own existing work authorization and contractor arrangement.

  • Candidates should not require employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Job requirements

  • Experience in data center operations, IT infrastructure, server hardware, or related technical work.

  • Hands-on experience with rack-and-stack, server installation/decommissioning, structured cabling, or hardware troubleshooting.

  • Familiarity with copper and/or fiber-optic cabling, depending on assignment requirements.

  • Ability to follow technical instructions, work orders, site procedures, and safety requirements.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate with remote teams and project managers.

  • Ability to work independently onsite with minimal supervision.

  • Proximity to local data center facilities and ability to travel to assigned sites.

  • Flexible availability for on-demand assignments, including nights, weekends, and short-notice requests.

  • Own transportation and basic tools where required for the assignment.

  • Legal authorization to work in the country of assignment without employer-sponsored work authorization.

  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, Network+, CDCP, or CDCS are an advantage, depending on the role and assignment requirements.
