About the Role

Join our team as a Data Center Technician in Helsinki, Finland. This is a full-time, on-site position where you'll support critical infrastructure at world-class data center facilities.

Work Schedule

  • Freelance position

  • Standard business hours with on-call rotation

  • Shift differentials for nights/weekends when applicable

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain server and network equipment

  • Perform structured cabling (copper and fiber optic)

  • Execute hardware deployments and decommissions

  • Monitor environmental systems (power, cooling, security)

  • Respond to incidents and perform troubleshooting

  • Maintain accurate documentation and asset tracking

  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams

  • Participate in capacity planning and upgrades

Job requirements

  • 2+ years of hands-on data center, IT infrastructure, server hardware, or related technical experience

  • Hands-on experience with rack and stack operations, server installations, decommissions, and hardware deployments

  • Strong structured cabling experience, including Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6a and fiber optic cabling (single-mode/multimode)

  • Experience with cable routing, labeling, patching, and physical connectivity troubleshooting

  • Experience troubleshooting and replacing server and network hardware, such as drives, RAM, power supplies, NICs, switches, and related components

  • Ability to follow technical instructions, work orders, SOPs, and safety procedures

  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently onsite and coordinate with remote engineering, NOC, and project teams

  • Ability to safely lift and move equipment weighing 50+ lbs and work in a data center environment

  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel to assigned data center locations in or near Toronto

  • Comfortable working flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and short-notice assignments when required

  • Legally authorized to perform independent contractor/freelance work in Canada without employer sponsorship

Preferred / Additional Skills

  • Fiber testing, troubleshooting, termination, or splicing experience

  • Experience with SFP/QSFP/transceiver replacement and troubleshooting

  • Experience with Dell, HPE, Supermicro, Cisco, Juniper, or similar hardware

  • Data center certifications such as CDCP, CDCS, or CDCE

  • Network certifications such as CCNA, JNCIA, or Network+

  • Experience with DCIM or ticketing systems

  • Colocation or remote-hands/smart-hands experience

  • Basic understanding of networking concepts such as VLANs, switching, and routing
